Over 12,000 Places Filled at TRNC Universities: 72.74% Quotas Occupied
The results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) in the TRNC have been announced, with 12,180 students being placed in universities this year. This accounts for 72.74 percent of the total quota of 16,745 positions available in TRNC universities.
Near East University has emerged as the university with the highest number of students placed, with 2,631 students gaining admission. Lefke European University and Eastern Mediterranean University followed closely behind with 2,535 and 2,185 students respectively.
Eastern Mediterranean University saw the highest number of students placed in undergraduate programs, while European University of Lefke led in associate degree programs.
In terms of placement rates relative to quotas, Cyprus Science University stood out with an impressive 91.73 percent placement rate.
Comparing this year’s results to the previous year, there has been a slight decrease in the number of students placed, from 13,700 to 12,180. However, this has been deemed as a minor fluctuation by the Chairman of the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK), Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın.
Overall, the placement figures show a positive trend in higher education admissions in the TRNC, with a significant percentage of the available positions being filled this year.
