Over 400,000 Drivers Processed in One Week
In the span of just one week, a staggering number of vehicles were inspected by the Police and Gendarmerie Traffic Teams in July 2024. A total of 2,406,651 vehicles were scrutinized, revealing a multitude of traffic violations that put the safety of drivers and passengers at risk.
Among the most common violations were the improper use of devices with light or audible warning signs, with 214 drivers facing consequences for installing illegal strobes in their vehicles. Speeding proved to be a prevalent issue as well, with 115,866 violations recorded. Additionally, over 23,000 vehicles were found to not have undergone mandatory periodic inspections, while 16,343 individuals were caught without their seat belts fastened. Shockingly, 14,060 people were operating vehicles without a valid driver’s license, and 9,178 were driving without compulsory liability insurance.
In response to these alarming figures, a total of 400,980 vehicles and drivers were processed for their infractions. The authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, urging all road users to follow the rules diligently and avoid excessive speeding. They also stressed the critical importance of wearing seat belts, emphasizing that journeys should serve to bring families together rather than tear them apart.
