A Woman Arrested After Her Pitbull Kills a Stray Cat
Recently, a disturbing incident caught on camera has caused outrage on social media. A pitbull breed dog, one of the banned breeds, was let loose by a woman without a muzzle in Denizköşkler District. The dog attacked and killed a stray cat by biting it on the back of the neck.
Upon seeing the footage, Avcılar District Police Department took action and detained the woman, identified as GA, at her residence in Merkez District. When questioned, GA could not provide the dog’s report card, leading the Avcılar Municipality Veterinary Affairs Directorate to take the dog to a shelter.
Legal proceedings were initiated against GA under the Animal Protection Law No. 5199. As a result, she was arrested by the court and sent to prison for her actions.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible pet ownership and the need to follow regulations concerning dangerous dog breeds. Animal welfare laws are in place to protect not only pets but also the community at large from potential harm.
