Deputy Speaker of the Republic Assembly Visits Famagusta Cultural Association
Fazilet Özdenefe, the Deputy Speaker of the Republic Assembly, recently paid a visit to the Famagusta Cultural Association. The visit was also attended by Republican Turkish Party Deputy Şifa Çolakoğlu.
During the visit, Famagusta Cultural Association President Sermin İyican expressed gratitude for the visit and provided information about the association’s activities. İyican highlighted various courses held by the association, including handicrafts, painting, carving, ceramics, sewing, and recycling. She also discussed the association’s Green Bracelet Project, which aims to increase environmental literacy in society.
As part of the 32nd International Famagusta Children and Youth Festival, İyican announced plans to organize a Dance Meeting between Primary Schools at RRDenktaş Culture and Congress Center on Monday, May 28, 2024, at 14:30. Additionally, exhibitions under the title “Let’s Keep Our Culture Alive” will be held at Famagusta Bandabuliya and Namık Kemal High School on the same day.
In her speech, Fazilet Özdenefe commended the association for its exemplary work and emphasized the importance of empowering women in production. She stated that it is essential for women to have visibility, especially in economic and social spheres, and to be recognized for their contributions. Özdenefe also stressed the need for state support for non-governmental organizations that advocate for women’s rights.
Members of the Board of Directors of the Famagusta Cultural Association joined the visit, during which Özdenefe conveyed her best wishes for the association’s success in its future endeavors. The visit served as a platform for discussions on promoting women’s participation in various aspects of society and the vital role of cultural associations in achieving this goal.
