Representatives from the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly recently held a working meeting with members of the Parliamentary Assembly Turkish Delegation to discuss important issues regarding the Turkish Cypriot community. The meeting, attended by National Unity Party Deputy Oguzhan Hasipoglu and Republican Turkish Party Deputy Armağan Candan, focused on the immovable property commission and the ongoing arrests in Southern Cyprus.

During the meeting, UBP Deputy Oguzhan Hasipoglu expressed his gratitude for hosting the Turkish Grand National Assembly delegation in the Republican Assembly. He emphasized the importance of uniting on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Parliamentaries.

Hasipoglu highlighted the ongoing restrictions and injustices faced by the Turkish Cypriot people, stressing the significance of support from the deputies of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in Strasbourg and during committee meetings in Paris. The discussion also addressed attempts to question the effectiveness of the immovable property commission and the actions of the Greek Cypriot administration.

Mustafa Canbey, Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, noted the prolonged discussions on the Cyprus issue due to insincere attitudes from the Greek side. Canbey reiterated the importance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus voicing its concerns and maintaining strong relations with Türkiye.

As efforts continue to secure recognition for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and address issues such as immovable property and the closed city of Maraş, Canbey assured ongoing support through reports and diplomatic channels. The meeting concluded with a commitment to further collaboration and support for the TRNC.
