Palestinian telecom companies relaunch services in Gaza Strip

The Minister of Telecommunications in Gaza, Abdurrezzak en-Netşe, has provided updates on the state of telecommunication services in the region following the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

According to Netşe, telecommunication companies have begun to restore their facilities in the southern city of Rafah and other affected areas in the north. This is part of the effort to reinstate basic services in the regions that were heavily impacted by Israeli attacks. Technical teams are working diligently to repair the damage and resume communication and internet services as quickly as possible.

However, Netşe highlighted that access for technical teams to the northern parts of Gaza has been hindered by challenging conditions on the ground, which could potentially disrupt internet services. He called on relevant authorities to support and facilitate the work of these teams to ensure a swift and efficient restoration process.

During the ceasefire negotiations, which were mediated by Qatar, an agreement was reached on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas. The agreement officially came into effect on Sunday, January 19. This came after more than 46,000 people lost their lives and over 110,000 were injured during the 471-day long Israeli attacks on Gaza.

As efforts continue to rebuild and restore normalcy in the region, the cooperation of all parties involved will be crucial in ensuring the efficient recovery of telecommunication services for the people of Gaza.
