President Ersin Tatar Chairs Consultation Meeting on Seasonal Flu Epidemics

The meeting was attended by various health professionals, including the President’s Health Advisor Prof. Dr. Nedime Serakıncı, Ministry of Health Primary Health Department Services Director Dr. Erdoğan, Turkish Cypriot Medical Association Public Health and Preventive Medicine Officer Dr. Figen Gülen İnce, and Independent Physicians Association Vice President Dr. İlker İpekdal.

During the meeting, participants shared general information about seasonal flu, viruses, and disease symptoms. The importance of following general hygiene rules and taking individual and social precautions was emphasized. It was highlighted that preventative measures should be taken before the onset of epidemics as well as during the epidemics.

The Ministry of Health provided data on last year’s and this year’s seasonal flu cases, indicating that there has been no significant increase in flu cases or intensive care admissions compared to previous years. Despite a lower vaccination rate among at-risk groups this year, the importance of getting vaccinated against seasonal flu was underscored.
