Parliament Considers MHP Law Proposal for Fire Prevention

MHP submits law proposal in parliament to reduce fire intervention time

MHP Deputy Chairman and Kayseri Deputy Ismail Ozdemir has submitted a law proposal in parliament aimed at reducing the intervention time for fires and other disasters to a maximum of 10 minutes.

In the justification for the proposal, Ozdemir highlighted a recent fire disaster in Kartalkaya on January 21, 2025, where the intervention of the fire department took longer than expected. He noted that the delay in reaching the scene had a significant impact on the extent of the damage caused by the fire.

Ozdemir pointed to examples from Europe, USA, and Japan where firefighters are expected to intervene in fires within 10 minutes. He stressed the importance of having fixed or mobile fire stations in strategic locations to ensure quick response times to emergencies.

The proposed law aims to establish a network of firefighters equipped with the necessary vehicles, equipment, and personnel in key locations such as schools, universities, mosques, stadiums, shopping centers, industrial zones, and tourist areas. This network would help minimize loss of life and property in the event of fires and other disasters.

The MHP’s law proposal is part of ongoing efforts to improve emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety of citizens in the face of unforeseen events. It is expected to be discussed and voted on in parliament in the coming weeks.
