
Parliament General Assembly Meeting Concludes – BRTK

The Republic Assembly completed today’s session after discussing various topics, including the Cyprus issue and economic matters. CTP MPs Ürün Solyalı and Teberrüken Uluçay delivered their speeches, highlighting the need for a solution to the Cyprus problem and the economic challenges faced by Turkish Cypriots.
During her speech titled “Opportunities of Solution,” CTP Deputy Ürün Solyalı emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot people deserve better living conditions and stressed the importance of finding a federal solution to the Cyprus problem. Solyalı also noted the potential economic benefits of such a solution, including increased job opportunities, higher per capita income, and improved access to international standards and trade.
Meanwhile, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, expressed his skepticism about the EU’s promises, especially regarding security and equality in funds and contributions. He advocated for the two-state solution process and criticized the Greek side’s rejection of Turkish initiatives related to energy and green energy.
In his speech, CTP Deputy Teberrüken Uluçay discussed inflation data and its impact on household purchasing power. He also highlighted the need to maximize export potential through trade regulations and stressed the importance of the newly appointed UN representative listening to the concerns of the Turkish Cypriot community.
Minister of Finance Özdemir Berova acknowledged the challenges posed by high inflation and emphasized the government’s efforts to prevent lower and middle-income groups from being severely impacted. He assured that measures would be taken to minimize market fluctuations and address excessive price increases.
Following the presentations, the General Assembly adjourned, with the next meeting scheduled for Monday, February 12. The discussions and speeches provided valuable insights into the issues affecting the Turkish Cypriot community and highlighted the importance of finding sustainable solutions for economic and political challenges.
