Parliament to Discuss 8th Judicial Package

New Regulations in Health, Tourism, and Judiciary to be Discussed in Turkish Parliament

This week, the General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament will continue discussions on a proposal containing regulations in the field of health. The proposal, which has already seen the acceptance of its first 14 articles, includes plans to increase the number of contracted health personnel from 27 thousand to 36 thousand. Additionally, the ceiling fee will be raised to encourage minor specialization, and the job description of midwives will be updated to promote normal birth.

In addition to discussions on health, the Parliament will also consider changes to the Tourist Guide Profession Law. The proposal aims to make it easier for art history and archeology graduates to become tourist guides, as well as to provide encouraging arrangements for guide candidates who know the languages of Far Eastern countries due to the increase in tourists from that region.

Furthermore, the 8th Judicial Package will be discussed in the Justice Commission on Tuesday. The package includes provisions for addressing allegations of ‘violation of the right to trial within a reasonable time’ through an application to the Compensation Commission before the Constitutional Court. It also opens the decision to postpone the announcement of the verdict to appeal and regulates the act of committing a crime on behalf of a terrorist organization as a separate crime, even if the perpetrator is not a member of it. Additionally, the package includes a provision for increasing the retirement holiday bonus from 2 thousand lira to 3 thousand lira.

The Parliament will also hold group meetings of political parties on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to address various issues and proposals. It is expected that these discussions will lead to the enactment of new regulations in the areas of health, tourism, and judiciary, with potential wide-ranging impacts on Turkish society and the country’s visitors.
