Parliament to review new law proposals
The Turkish government is set to begin negotiations on a new bill, dubbed the “Judicial Package,” which includes various important provisions. One key proposal involves the re-determination of the sales procedure for vehicles in trustee car parks that have been banned from traffic, detained, and not collected or searched by their owners within six months. Additionally, the bill aims to address the issue of insult crimes committed via voice, written, or video messages by excluding them from mediation and including them in the scope of prepayment.
Furthermore, the bill proposes that the complaint period for insult crimes, which require a complaint for investigation and prosecution, should not exceed two years from the date of the offense. This provision seeks to ensure timely and efficient resolution of such offenses. In addition to these measures, the General Assembly is expected to discuss a motion to extend the term of duty for Turkish soldiers in Lebanon for another year.
These proposed changes highlight the government’s commitment to addressing key issues in the Turkish judicial system and ensuring the effective enforcement of laws. As negotiations on the bill commence, it is anticipated that further discussions and adjustments will take place to ensure its smooth implementation.
