
Parliament’s General Assembly Continues Speeches – BRTK Update

The General Assembly of the Parliament recently witnessed engaging speeches by various members on critical issues affecting the region.
Republican Turkish Party Kyrenia Deputy Fikri Toros addressed the assembly on “Cyprus in the Focus of Regional Security and Energy.” He highlighted the increasing significance of the Eastern Mediterranean due to recent hydrocarbon reserve studies conducted by foreign companies. Toros emphasized the need to address conflicts between Turkish-Greek interests and secure Turkey’s rights in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Following Toros, Republican Turkish Party Nicosia Deputy Sami Özuslu discussed “Latest Political Developments.” He raised concerns about corruption and irregularities in the country, particularly in the university sector and fair pricing. Özuslu urged government officials to address these issues transparently and take corrective actions.
Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu responded to Özuslu’s remarks by emphasizing government efforts to address irregularities in the education sector and fair practices. He also discussed ongoing initiatives to combat corruption and ensure transparent governance.
Republican Turkish Party İskele Deputy Biray Hamzaoğulları critiqued the lack of public transportation infrastructure in the country and highlighted issues related to illegal taxi operations. He called for stricter penalties to deter illegal activities and improve transportation services for the public.
Lastly, Republican Turkish Party Nicosia Deputy Devrim Barçın focused on the “Economic and Political Decay” plaguing the country. He criticized proposed legislation aimed at granting amnesty to individuals who have remained in the country illegally and questioned the government’s motives behind such initiatives.
