Patients in hospitals with revoked licenses referred in ‘newborn gang’ investigation

Nine private hospitals in Istanbul are being evacuated as part of an investigation into allegations of baby emergency patients being referred to neonatal units of certain private hospitals, resulting in deaths and unfair profits. Working in collaboration with the 112 Emergency Call Center, authorities are taking swift action to address these serious accusations.

In response to a letter from the General Directorate of Health Services to the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, the process of evacuating and referring patients from these hospitals has begun. Patients currently undergoing treatment are being transferred to public hospitals via ambulance for continued care.

Among the hospitals being evacuated are Private Silivri Kolan Hospital and Private Güney Hospital, with the transfer process already completed and authorities sealing the facilities afterwards. Additionally, Bağcılar Private Şafak Hospital and Private Bağcılar Medilife Hospital, whose operations were previously suspended, have also been sealed off.

Riot police teams are on standby in front of these hospitals as a precautionary measure. The licenses of all nine hospitals involved in the investigation, including Private Avcılar Hospital, Private TRG Hospitalist Hospital, Private Birinci Hospital, Private Beylikdüzü Medilife Hospital, and Private Reyap Istanbul Hospital, have been revoked.

The investigation into the alleged “newborn gang” scheme is ongoing, with authorities taking decisive action to ensure the safety and well-being of all patients involved.
