“Pay Rise for Hungary’s Healthcare Workers Arriving in July”

Hungarian Nurses and Auxiliary Health-Care Staff to Receive 18% Pay Rise
Hungary’s 84,000 nurses and 24,000 technicians will receive an 18% pay rise from July, according to Péter Takács, the state secretary in charge of healthcare. The increase is part of the government’s €135.4m ($152.4m) set aside for wage hikes this year, and employers will receive HUF 57,600 ($206) per employee to help fund the increases. A qualified nurse with 4-6 years’ experience will see their salary rise from HUF 423,000 ($1,520) to HUF 499,000 ($1,790) on 1 July, with a nurse with 20 years of experience receiving up to HUF 583,000 ($2,090). The government plans to increase rates further in March 2020 to “prevent the wage gap between doctors and nurses from deepening further”.
