Pehlivanköy Mayor Hüseyin Açıkel Passes Away After Heart Attack
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Pehlivanköy Mayor Hüseyin Açıkel. Açıkel suffered a heart attack on April 23 and was taken to Babaeski State Hospital. He was later transferred to Edirne Sultan 1st Murat State Hospital for treatment, where he underwent angiography in the cardiology service.
Despite all efforts, Açıkel passed away on the evening of April 24. He will be buried with a ceremony to be held in the district tomorrow.
Kırklareli Governor Birol Ekici expressed his condolences in a message after visiting Açıkel in the hospital. Ekici stated, “It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of Pehlivanköy Mayor Hüseyin Açıkel. I wish God’s mercy on Pehlivanköy Mayor Hüseyin Açıkel, and my condolences to his grieving family and relatives.”
Açıkel was a beloved figure in Pehlivanköy, a town in the Tekirdağ Province of Turkey. He had been serving as mayor since 2014 and was known for his dedication to improving the lives of his constituents.
