Pentagon to Decrease Soldier Presence in Guantanamo

According to senior officials speaking on condition of anonymity, US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth has requested a plan to reduce the number of soldiers at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba. It has been reported that no immigrants have been transferred to the base since the beginning of March, and authorities are expecting the number of soldiers at the base to be reduced by half. Furthermore, there are concerns about high-threat detainees being sent to the base in the future.

US President Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policies have led to the transfer of irregular immigrants to the Guantanamo Bay Sea Base for monitoring. This move was reversed on March 13 when all immigrants were brought back to the United States. The Defense Minister argued that the facility is a suitable area for immigrants and approximately 300 irregular immigrants, including 177 Venezuelans, were taken to the base via military planes.

The tensions between the US and Iran are escalating, with Trump calling for immediate support to be cut to Iran due to their support for Houthi rebels in Yemen. As the situation unfolds, the world watches closely to see how the situation will develop.
