Pets’ Reactions to Istanbul Earthquake Caught on Camera
Silivri, off the coast of Istanbul, was shaken by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake at 12.49 hours, leaving residents in panic. The earthquake was captured on security cameras and mobile phones as it hit both workplaces and homes.
In Üsküdar, women who were getting their hair done at a salon abandoned the process and rushed outside during the earthquake. Similarly, in Beylikdüzü, a person sleeping at their workplace woke up and immediately left the building. In a café, a woman shouted “hit the ground” as the earthquake struck.
Some individuals, upon feeling the tremors, immediately fled their workplaces with the mindset of “getting out of the earthquake.” Security cameras in a market captured products falling from shelves, while customers at a barber shop hurriedly left the premises in a state of panic.
In another incident, a person caught in the earthquake tried to escape the garden through iron bars. Additional footage showed products falling off shelves in a stationery store as the ground shook.
Interestingly, the reactions of animals during the earthquake were also documented. In one instance, a dog ran out of a barber shop, while a budgerigar inside a house returned to its room as captured by a security camera. The owner fled the scene, leaving the budgerigar behind.
The chaos and panic of the earthquake were further exemplified by a swinging chandelier in a workplace, captured on security cameras. The footage also showed customers and employees fleeing the building in a rush to safety.
The earthquake served as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of nature’s forces, leaving citizens of Istanbul on edge as they navigate the aftermath of this terrifying event.
