Pictures: Slovakian University Celebrates 20 Years of Hungarian Language Education
The Selye János University of Komárno (Révkomárom) in southern Slovakia is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and Hungarian state secretary Árpád János Potápi has hailed it as a symbol of success for the Hungarian community in Slovakia. The university is not only the top Hungarian school in Slovakia but also a vital hub for the local Hungarian culture.
Potápi emphasized the importance of the university’s theology faculty, stating that the church plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation. He also highlighted the Hungarian government’s commitment to supporting ethnic kin in its foreign policy, emphasizing the need to invest in Hungarian resources, science, and the future of Slovakia Hungarians.
The Selye University, which started offering courses in September 2004, is the first independent Hungarian university in Slovakia. Its 20th anniversary marks a significant milestone in the education and cultural development of the Hungarian community in the region.
