“PM Advisor Gyula Tellér Dies”

Former member of the Hungarian parliament, Gyula Tellér, passed away at the age of 88. Tellér served as an advisor to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and was known for his knowledge and moral character, with former Minister of Human Resources and Reformed Bishop Zoltán Balog remembering him for putting “his knowledge and unfailing moral sense at the service of the nation in order to understand the deeper and higher context of our lives.” Tellér was a member of parliament during the regime change and won a seat on the national list of SZDSZ in the 1990 parliamentary elections. He did not run in the 1994 elections and left SZDSZ the same year. Tellér later became one of the founders of the Society of Hungarian Civic Democrats and a member of the Board of Trustees of the MTV Public Foundation. Tellér was the head of the political analysis department of the Prime Minister’s Office during the first Orbán government from 1998 to 2002 and was an advisor to Orbán since 2010. Orbán remembered Tellér on Facebook for being a “master and friend” who left the legacies of being “brave and faithful.”
