Pregnant Dog Shot, Gives Birth in Pain
Kind-hearted individuals come to the rescue of a pregnant dog and her puppies on Mugada beach in Bartın
A heart-wrenching story of a pregnant dog and her five puppies on Mugada beach in Bartın has captured the attention of philanthropists and animal lovers alike. The stray dog, along with her newborn puppies, was found in distress on the beach, prompting concerned citizens to take action.
Philanthropist Seda Mercan and veterinarian Ömer Faruk Alkan stepped in to help the dog and her puppies by bringing them to the Zonguldak Private Veterinary Clinic for treatment. Upon examination, it was discovered that the dog had been shot while pregnant and had given birth in pain. The poor animal had multiple pellets in her spinal cord and feet, necessitating a three-hour treatment to remove them successfully.
Despite the best efforts of the veterinary team, one of the dog’s legs and tail had to be amputated due to the severity of her injuries. Veterinarian Ömer Faruk Alkan explained, “After taking x-rays and examining her, we found that she had been shot at close range, with bullets penetrating her spinal cord. The surgery was necessary to alleviate the pressure on her nerve and ensure her hind legs were not paralyzed.”
The dog, who sadly lost one of her puppies, is now undergoing physical therapy, including laser exercises, to aid in her recovery. The remaining puppies are said to be in good health, despite the ordeal they have been through.
This heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the importance of compassion and care for our furry friends in need. Thanks to the selfless actions of these individuals, the dog and her puppies now have a chance at a better life filled with love and healing.
