President accused of making false statements for provocation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Press and Public Relations Office has responded to journalist Serhat İncirli’s recent claims with a statement. The press office addressed the issue in relation to the joint press conference that President Erdogan recently held with President Ersin Tatar during his visit to the TRNC.
According to the statement released by the Presidency, all members of the press were invited to the conference without any discrimination. However, when it came to accrediting these journalists, some were more successful than others. In the statement, the office claimed that they had made a second call, requesting that yellow press cards be sent to them so as to complete the accreditation procedure. Meltem Sonay, the News Director of Yenidüzen newspaper, apparently responded promptly, sending her yellow press card and attending the conference. However, Serhat İncirli purportedly failed to accredit his press card or attend the conference.
The Presidency’s statement insisted that they had records to prove this and had only been truthful in their account of events. They accused İncirli of violating ethical rules and misleading the public with his claims.
The press office also made it clear that their invitation to all members of the press was genuine and that they did not discriminate against any particular journalist or newspaper. It appears that İncirli’s failure to accredit his press card resulted in him missing out on the conference, despite the invitations extended to all members of the press.
It remains to be seen how this issue will be resolved, but the Presidency’s statement has made it clear that they will not tolerate ethical violations by journalists. The press office has emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and the need for journalists to respect journalistic ethics and standards.
