
President Aliyev Commends Kazakh Heroism Following AZAL Plane Crash in TV Interview

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan recently commended the joint efforts of Azerbaijani and Kazakh officials following the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane near Aktau. In a recent interview, President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between the two governments in responding to the incident.
President Aliyev highlighted the quick response of Kazakh rescuers who risked their lives to extract passengers from the wreckage of the plane. He also praised the efforts of Kazakh medical staff in providing immediate care to the injured passengers.
The solidarity and support shown by the Kazakh people deeply moved President Aliyev, emphasizing the strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.
During a phone conversation with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President Aliyev emphasized the importance of an international examination in the investigation and declined involvement of the Interstate Aviation Committee. President Tokayev accepted this position, and both countries continue to work together to ensure a thorough investigation into the crash.
President Aliyev extended his condolences to President Tokayev for the loss of six Kazakh citizens in the crash, while also receiving condolences in return. Despite the tragedy, President Aliyev expressed confidence that the friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have only grown stronger through this difficult time.
The crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft claimed 39 lives on Dec. 25, with 29 passengers surviving. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with both Azerbaijani and Kazakh authorities working together to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. President Tokayev has convened a meeting in Astana to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation, commending the emergency services for their swift response and the compassion shown by the Kazakh people in the aftermath of the crash.
