President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva recently held a meeting with ophthalmologists who worked alongside the late ophthalmologist, scientist, and academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The meeting took place over tea and provided an opportunity for the President and First Lady to discuss advancements in ophthalmology and commend the doctors for their contribution to the field.
Zarifa Aliyeva, who passed away in 2005, was a renowned ophthalmologist who dedicated her life to the field. She was the founder and leader of the National Ophthalmology Center and the Azerbaijan Society of Ophthalmologists. In addition to her numerous contributions to the field, she is also remembered for promoting women’s rights and equality in society.
