
President Erdoğan Calls for Resolving Palestine Issue in Line with International Law

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church in Yeşilköy. During his speech, Erdoğan addressed the Palestinian-Israeli tension and emphasized the importance of resolving the issue in accordance with international law. He stated that adding fuel to the fire will not benefit anyone, especially the civilians on both sides. Erdoğan also highlighted the need to resolve the problem within the framework of international law.
In addition to discussing the Palestinian-Israeli tension, President Erdoğan expressed his condolences to the victims of the earthquake in Afghanistan and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He pledged Turkey’s support for Afghanistan and stated that the country stands in solidarity with its Afghan brothers.
Regarding the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church, President Erdoğan expressed his happiness to be present at the opening ceremony. He described the church as an important institution for meeting the needs of the Assyrian community. Erdoğan explained that the process of establishing the church began during his presidency and involved working in coordination with the administrators of the Assyrian community to ensure the necessary steps were taken.
President Erdoğan highlighted the legal changes implemented to enable community foundations to acquire real estate. He emphasized that previously confiscated community foundations were returned and transferred properties were compensated. He stated that the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church is one of many works undertaken by Turkey to promote freedom of religion and belief since 2002.
Erdoğan further emphasized Turkey’s commitment to allowing different cultures and beliefs to coexist peacefully. He condemned attacks on people’s sacred values and expressed concern over the violation of Muslim and Christian rights in Jerusalem.
Turning his attention back to the Palestinian-Israeli tension, President Erdoğan stressed that lasting peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through a fair resolution of the Palestine-Israel problem. He reiterated the significance of resolving the issue in accordance with international law and achieving peace, stability, and lasting peace in the region. Erdoğan called for an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Erdoğan warned against actions that would escalate tensions, lead to more bloodshed, and deepen the problems in the region. He expressed Turkey’s determination to intensify diplomatic efforts to restore tranquility and reduce the escalating tension. Erdoğan concluded by stating that the entire region, including both Palestinians and Israelis, pays the price for the delayed establishment of justice.
In addition to President Erdoğan’s remarks, it was mentioned that the Mor Efrem Syriac Ancient Orthodox Church is the first church built in the history of the Republic. The church building includes a cultural hall for community gatherings, as well as facilities for various ceremonies and events.
