President Erdogan addresses supporters after Turkish elections
President Erdogan has given a balcony speech at the AK Party Headquarters after the May 14 elections. He thanked supporters for their love and enthusiasm and reflected on the high turnout for the election, stating that Turkey had once again proven itself as a leading democracy of the world.
Although the exact results of the election were not yet clear at the time of his speech, Erdogan stated that his party was in the lead by a long way and he expected to finish this round with a vote of more than 50%.
He also thanked the nearly 27 million citizens who made the presidential choice for his party and expressed gratitude to each and every one of the 56 million citizens who participated in this feast of democracy.
Regardless of the outcome, Erdogan promised to continue working to raise the hopes of Turkey’s youth for the Century of Turkey and to win the hearts of the nation without resorting to games. He ended his speech by wishing the 14th of May democracy feast to be beneficial to everyone.
