President Erdogan Holds Phone Calls with International Leaders During Eid Holiday
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been engaging in phone conversations with various world leaders during the Eid holiday. The discussions have covered a range of regional and global issues, with a focus on recent developments in Russia. President Erdogan expressed Turkey’s readiness to contribute to resolving any conflicts and promoting peace and harmony in the region.
Among the leaders Erdogan spoke with were Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar, and Prime Minister Unal Ustel. Erdogan extended warm wishes for Eid-al-Adha and expressed hopes for peace and prosperity for all, particularly the Turkish and Islamic worlds.
Erdogan also congratulated President of Kazakhstan Kasim Cömert Tokayev and discussed strengthening bilateral partnerships in various sectors. He also reached out to leaders in the Islamic world, including President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mahmud, President of Algeria Abdulmecid Tebboune, and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif. Erdogan expressed his desire to hold the next High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in Pakistan and discussed regional and international issues with all these leaders.
Moreover, Erdogan spoke with President of Uzbekistan Şevket Mirziyoyev and conveyed his congratulations for the upcoming Presidential election in Uzbekistan. They also expressed their eagerness to hold the 3rd meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council as soon as possible.
In addition to these conversations, Erdogan discussed bilateral relations and regional and global issues with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as well as the potential NATO membership of Sweden and recent developments in Russia. He also talked to Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and stressed the importance of continued confidence-building steps in the normalization process between Turkey and Armenia.
Erdogan also engaged with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, extending holiday greetings and expressing concern over recent developments in the West Bank. He reiterated Turkey’s support for the Palestinian cause and opposition to any actions that could undermine the spirituality and status of Masjid al-Aqsa. Furthermore, Erdogan spoke with Sudan Sovereign Council President Abdulfettah Abdulrahman El Burhan and both leaders expressed their disappointment over the events in Sudan, while Erdogan emphasized that Turkey is closely monitoring the situation.
During his phone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Erdogan congratulated Mitsotakis on his success in the general elections. They discussed the opportunity for future bilateral relations with strong governments in both countries. Erdogan also spoke with the Sultan of Oman, Heysem bin Tarık, commending Oman’s constructive stance towards conflicts in the region.
The President had a discussion with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, covering bilateral and regional concerns. Moreover, Erdogan exchanged Eid wishes with Bosnia and Herzegovina SDA Party Chairman Bakir Izetbegovic, emphasizing the importance of peace and abundance for the entire Islamic world. Lastly, Erdogan held a phone call with Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government President Nechirvan Barzani.
Additionally, Erdogan held a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, discussing the latest developments in Russia and highlighting the prevention of irreversible humanitarian disasters in Ukraine due to the de-escalation of tensions. The meeting also addressed Sweden’s potential NATO membership and ongoing issues regarding the F-35.
President Erdogan’s extensive series of phone conversations demonstrates Turkey’s commitment to diplomatic engagement and its goal of promoting peace, stability, and cooperation in the international arena.
