Erdogan and Mattarella Discuss Strengthening Turkey-Italy Relations at Quirinale Palace
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Italian President Sergio Mattarella recently convened for the Fourth Türkiye-Italy Interpretation Summit at the historic Quirinale Palace. The meeting, which was not open to the press, focused on a range of topics concerning the bilateral relationship between the two nations, as well as pressing regional and global issues.
According to a statement from the Turkish Presidential Communication Presidency on social media, both leaders were committed to enhancing bilateral relations. President Erdogan expressed optimism about achieving a target trade volume of $40 billion, affirming that cooperation between Türkiye and Italy would continue to grow.
The discussions also touched on significant international matters, including the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war and the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. Erdogan emphasized the necessity for a permanent ceasefire in these regions, pledging Türkiye’s commitment to work tirelessly towards achieving lasting peace.
The meeting signifies a renewed effort to solidify Turkey-Italy ties and address pressing geopolitical challenges, highlighting the importance of collaboration in today’s complex global landscape.
