
President Erdoğan Meets With Dem Party Delegation: Issues Statement After Interview

An important meeting took place in Ankara today as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accepted the Dem Party delegation 13 years later. The meeting, held in Beştepe and attended by MIT President Ibrahim Kalin, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, and Dem Party representatives Sirri Sureyya Önder and Pervin Buldan, lasted for 1 hour and 25 minutes.
In a written statement released by the Dem Party, it was mentioned that the meeting with President Erdoğan took place in a positive, constructive, efficient, and promising atmosphere for the future. Both sides confirmed the importance of the current process and discussed the strengthening of the democratic and political sphere for the benefit of the country, citizens, and the region.
Following the meeting, Sirri Sureyya Önder expressed his optimism and stated that it was a very positive encounter. Similarly, Pervin Buldan mentioned the efficiency of the interview and emphasized that the process is proceeding well.
The Dem Party is expected to release a detailed written statement regarding the outcome of the meeting.
Looking ahead, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala pointed out the significance of the month of April in the ongoing process against terrorism. He mentioned that an important step is expected to be taken by the end of April to resolve the issues related to the terrorist organization.
The Dem Party delegation has previously conducted two political party tours, including meetings with the AK Party Parliamentary administration and deputy chairmen. After the meeting with President Erdoğan, the delegation is anticipated to visit İmralı for the fourth time.
On another front, the focus is on the PKK’s potential congress following the call from İmralı to “terminate yourself.” MHP Chairman Devlet Bahceli suggested May 4 as the date for the congress, emphasizing the need to put an end to discussions and actions related to the PKK.
