
President Erdoğan Pays Respects at Alev Alatlı’s Funeral

Renowned Turkish Writer and Thinker Alev Alatlı Laid to Rest
The funeral ceremony for the highly esteemed writer and thinker Alev Alatlı was held at the Eyüp Sultan Mosque in Turkey, where she was given the final farewell by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Following the funeral prayer, Alev Alatlı’s body was laid to rest in Mihrişah Valide Sultan Cemetery. President Erdoğan, in his speech after the funeral prayer, fondly remembered Alatlı as a sister and mother figure with many beauties.
Born in 1944 in Izmir, Alev Alatlı went on to pursue a distinguished academic career, earning degrees in Economics, Statistics, and Philosophy from prestigious institutions in Turkey and the United States. She made significant contributions to the academic world and was known for her work in philosophy, economics, and linguistics which spanned several decades.
Throughout her career, Alatlı published numerous books and essays, displaying her intellect, wisdom, and thought-provoking ideas. She was the recipient of several accolades, including the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Prize in the field of literature, and honorary doctorates from esteemed universities.
