President Erdogan to make first foreign visit to TRNC, says President Tatar

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s first foreign visit since his re-election will be to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), according to President Ersin Tatar. The visit, scheduled for Monday, June 12th, sends a message to the world that “TRNC is a state,” Tatar said. He expressed gratitude to Erdoğan for his support of the TRNC, which he said belongs to Turkey. The TRNC has been under embargoes, isolation and obstructions imposed by the world, Tatar said, but with Turkey’s support, the country will continue to thrive in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Turkish Cypriot people define themselves as an integral part of the great Turkish nation. Erdogan’s national policy once again received approval from the Turkish nation in the elections, noted Tatar. He added that the forthcoming visit will further the cooperation between the two countries on social, cultural, economic and other issues.
