President Novák presents Hungarian Order of Merit to Transylvanian Bishop Kató
Reformed Bishop Bela Kató Recognized with Hungarian Order of Merit
President Katalin Novak bestowed the Hungarian Order of Merit, Grand Cross, civil division, upon Reformed Bishop Bela Kató of the Reformed Diocese of Transylvania, recognizing him as the head of the board of the Sapientia Foundation. The ceremony took place at the presidential palace on Friday, with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, House Speaker László Kövér, and Gergely Gulyás, the head of the PM’s Office, in attendance.
During the ceremony, Bishop Zoltán Balog praised Kató as “a guideline to Catholics and Protestants, to all Christian communities seeking to preserve their Hungarian identity.”
