President of Turkmenistan and Prime Minister of Pakistan Discuss Bilateral Relations
A telephone conversation between the President of Turkmenistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan
On March 31, 2025, President Serdar Berdymuhamedov of Turkmenistan and Prime Minister Muhammad Shakhbaz Sharif of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan had a telephone conversation.
During the call, the leaders exchanged warm greetings and extended their congratulations to each other and their respective nations on the occasion of Bayrama’s oraz.
Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of cooperation with Turkmenistan, a country known for its initiatives towards global peace and sustainable development. He also conveyed well wishes from the President of Pakistan, Asiph Ali Zardari, to President Berdymuhamedov.
President Berdymuhamedov expressed gratitude for the kind words and conveyed greetings and congratulations on the occasion of Bayram’s oraz on behalf of himself and the National Leader of Turkmenistan. Both leaders acknowledged the existing cooperation between their countries in various spheres and discussed the need to further strengthen their partnership.
Energy cooperation, particularly the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and other projects, was highlighted as a priority area for collaboration. Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation in the energy sector and commended Turkmenistan’s positive neutrality policy, especially in the context of the UN declaring 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
Prime Minister Sharif also extended an invitation to President Berdymuhamedov to visit Pakistan at a convenient time, further underscoring the desire to enhance bilateral relations.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties between Turkmenistan and Pakistan and wished each other success in their endeavors. The telephone conversation, initiated by the Pakistani side, underscored the mutual interest in deepening cooperation and promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
