President Tatar and First Lady Sibel Tatar meet with artist Ediz Hun
President Ersin Tatar and his wife Sibel Tatar recently met with Turkish cinema artist Ediz Hun and his wife Berna Hun during a special program organized by the Cyprus Martyrs’ Commemoration Platform in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
The couples enjoyed a social dinner together in Çağlayan, where President Tatar expressed his happiness at seeing Ediz Hun again. Tatar recalled how Ediz Hun had visited the Turkish Cypriot Forces Regiment Command just two and a half months before the Cyprus Peace Operation in 1974, and praised his dedication to the country.
During the meeting, Ediz Hun shared a touching memory from 50 years ago when he and Türkan Şoray visited Cyprus on May 6, 1974. He expressed his joy at returning to the island on the same date after so many years and sent his warm regards to Türkan Şoray, who was unable to join them due to illness.
The event was a special opportunity for both couples to reminisce about the past and celebrate the enduring friendship between Turkey and Northern Cyprus. The meeting highlighted the strong bonds between the two countries and the shared history that continues to unite them.
