President Tatar Attends Reception for Northern Cyprus in London

President Ersin Tatar recently attended the “Freedom and Justice for Northern Cyprus” reception in London, where he addressed various important issues concerning the Turkish Cypriot people. The event, organised by the Freedom and Justice for Northern Cyprus Campaign in Westminster, was attended by parliamentarians, businessmen, ambassadors, academics, and representatives of think tanks and civil society associations.
During his speech at the reception, President Tatar emphasized the need for the sovereign rights of the Turkish Cypriot people to be respected and their isolation to be lifted. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two states on the island of Cyprus in achieving sustainable peace and stability in the region.
President Tatar discussed the failures of past negotiations on a federal basis in Cyprus, stating that a two-state solution may be a more realistic and sustainable model for the island. He pointed out that the Greek Cypriot side has consistently rejected agreements in the past, including the Annan Plan, and refused to accept a solution based on equality with the Turkish Cypriot people.
The President called for a reevaluation of the situation by the guarantor country, England, and stressed the need for fair treatment of the Turkish Cypriot people to end their isolation. He also highlighted the contributions of Turkish Cypriots living in England to the socio-economic development of the country.
The reception was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to London, the TRNC London Representative, and other notable representatives. President Tatar’s presence and statements at the event underscored the importance of addressing the issues facing the Turkish Cypriot people and working towards a more sustainable and peaceful future for the region.
