President Tatar meets with Supreme Court President Özerdağ
President Ersin Tatar welcomed Supreme Court President Bertan Özerdağ to discuss important judicial matters in a recent meeting. Tatar highlighted the need for more efficient decision-making processes in the court system, mentioning new legislation that allows judges to have assistant lawyers to help with case overload.
Emphasizing the importance of quick and fair trials, Tatar wished success to all judges and expressed his support for increasing the number of judges if needed. He stressed the necessity of investing in court infrastructure and resources to meet the growing demands of the justice system.
In addition, Tatar addressed the ongoing property issues in Cyprus, particularly the recent arrest of an investor in Southern Cyprus which he deemed as an attack on the TRNC economy. He called for a state-to-state resolution of such disputes and highlighted the role of the Immovable Property Commission in handling property claims.
President Tatar also raised these concerns with UN officials, seeking international support for resolving property disputes and ensuring fair treatment of investors.
