President Ersin Tatar returns to TRNC after attending OTS Summit in Azerbaijan

President Ersin Tatar has concluded his visit to Azerbaijan to attend the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Summit and has returned to the TRNC. Upon his arrival at Ercan Airport, President Tatar was greeted by Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre and other officials.

During a press conference held at Ercan, President Tatar expressed his joy at being able to attend the summit at the invitation of President Aliyev and representing the TRNC. He also extended his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality shown to him during his visit.

President Tatar emphasized the TRNC’s commitment to participating in various fields of TDT and developing relations, noting that the TRNC flag is proudly flying in Shusha. He also highlighted the strong support from Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, stating that Turkey fully supports the two-state policy.

In his address, Tatar condemned the Greek Cypriot side for their oppressive policies towards the Turkish Cypriot people, criticizing the presence of Greek Cypriot officials at the summit. He stressed the importance of reaching an agreement based on equality in Cyprus through cooperation between the two states.

President Tatar expressed his appreciation to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for his close attention and emphasized the strength of the Turkic world when united. He also thanked all those who contributed to the success of the summit, noting that it was a significant moment for the TRNC to participate in an international meeting outside of Turkey.

During his visit to Shusha, President Tatar expressed his delight at being the first guest statesman to visit Khankendi, a city liberated from Armenian occupation. He underlined the importance of building bridges between the Turkish world and the Mediterranean, highlighting the TRNC’s strategic position as a national state with sea and air space.

Tatar reiterated the importance of strengthening relations with Turkish states to support the Turkish Cypriot people’s pursuit of a two-state solution. He emphasized the need for a just, permanent, and sustainable solution in Cyprus based on cooperation between the two sovereign states, noting that these steps bolster efforts towards achieving sovereign equality.
