President Tatar Welcomes Vice President of Turkey Yılmaz
President Ersin Tatar Receives Vice President of Turkey Cevdet Yılmaz
President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) welcomed Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz of the Republic of Turkey on a significant day which is Regaip Kandili. Tatar expressed his delight at receiving Yılmaz on the occasion of the opening of the Suat Günsel Mosque in a delegation that held particular importance.
During the meeting, President Tatar acknowledged the crucial support provided by the Republic of Turkey in fortifying the infrastructure of the TRNC. He also extended his wishes for a better year following the recent earthquake in Turkey on February 6, 2024.
Tatar pointed out the importance of ending the isolations that contradict contemporary values in the TRNC and emphasized the necessity for the Greek mentality to change in order for the peace process to proceed smoothly. Additionally, he mentioned the acceptance of the appointed personal representative for a period of 6 months by the Turkish Cypriot side to search for common ground in the negotiation process through meetings.
The President underscored the significance of projects and developments in various fields, appreciating the presence of the Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey in the country. Tatar also highlighted the advancements in transportation made by Ercan Airport.
In his speech, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz expressed delight over the new projects on the island, particularly the Suat Günsel Mosque, and extended his congratulations to the Turkish Cypriots on Regaip Kandili. He conveyed the greetings, love, and congratulations of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the Turkish Cypriot people and welcomed the establishment of a mosque with 6 minarets in the TRNC.
Yılmaz also mentioned ongoing studies for the use of water as irrigation water after drinking water and feasibility studies for an interconnected electricity project, expressing hope for the entire island to be integrated into the European system. He emphasized the potential of the TRNC in renewable energy and discussed studies in various sectors such as health and education.
Furthermore, Yılmaz thanked President Tatar for his clear stance on two-state politics and stated that the Republic of Turkey shares this vision. He expressed readiness to support the TRNC in overcoming isolation, and recognized positive developments in the country’s international relations.
The meeting between President Tatar and Vice President Yılmaz highlighted the cooperation and collaboration between the TRNC and the Republic of Turkey, marking a significant step towards progress and development in the region.
