President Tokayev Calls on EAEU Members to Tap into Union’s Economic Opportunities

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has urged Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states to improve the union’s development trajectory in a recent meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow. During the meeting, Tokayev emphasized the need for efficient cooperation in forming a single, barrier-free market to provide unhindered transit of goods to third countries in the current geo-economic conditions. He also called for closer economic and trade interaction with other international and regional alliances and the prompt finalization of free trade zone agreements with Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Furthermore, Tokayev offered to promote joint ventures in producing electric vehicles, mainline locomotives, railcars, agricultural and passenger vehicles, building materials, and chemical products. To enhance integration development, he suggested creating new international transport arteries and considering the possibility of joint investments in infrastructure in the sea and dry ports of Iran and Turkmenistan. Finally, Tokayev proposed holding the EAEU’s 10th-anniversary summit in Astana next year, mentioning that the EAEU Treaty was signed in the Kazakh capital.
