Kazakh President Tokayev Meets with Founder of Orbis Kazakhstan Group

On June 1, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with Farrukh Makhmudov, the founder of Orbis Kazakhstan Group. This multi-profile Kazakh company operates in various sectors such as oilfield services, petrochemicals, authorized retail, agribusiness, agrochemicals, construction, transport, and public catering.

During the meeting, Makhmudov discussed the company’s achievements and future development plans. One of the key projects in the pipeline is the construction of a full-cycle automobile plant called Orbis Manufacturing in the Almaty industrial park. This ambitious project, with an estimated cost of 72 billion tenge (US$161.2 million), will bring together Chinese brands like Exeed and Kaiyi. The plant is expected to create job opportunities for nearly 1,500 people in its initial phase and has a production capacity of 80,000 cars per year. The company aims to supply its products to both domestic and international markets, including Central Asia and the Caucasus region.

Additionally, Orbis has outlined plans to complete the construction of a shopping and market complex, launch a multidisciplinary medical clinic in Astana, and commence the construction of the Agro Park wholesale distribution center this year. The group is also actively involved in various projects aimed at developing the Almaty tourism cluster. This includes the ongoing reconstruction of the historic Almaty hotel, as well as the construction of recreational centers such as the Prosveshchenets center and a multifunctional facility in Konaev.

Makhmudov highlighted the company’s efforts in contributing to relief efforts in the wake of floods in Aksu and Kentubek settlements in the West Kazakhstan Region. Orbis Kazakhstan Group continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and making a positive impact on various sectors of the Kazakh economy.
