
President Tokayev Emphasizes Global Education and Youth Exchanges

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan recently visited the newly built dormitory at Gumilyov Eurasian National University, where he underscored the significance of international cooperation in education and youth exchanges. The dormitory, which can accommodate 2,656 students, has been specially designed to provide a barrier-free environment for students with special needs.
During the visit, Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek briefed President Tokayev on the establishment of an academic hub in Kazakhstan by opening branches of foreign universities and expanding student housing facilities. In a recent interview with Ana Tili newspaper, Tokayev praised the progress made in this area and highlighted the importance of digitization and the development of artificial intelligence.
In 2024, Kazakhstan opened 40 dormitories with a total of 11,079 places, and plans are underway to launch seven more dormitories in Astana this year, providing 3,400 additional places for students. President Tokayev also visited Kazakhstan International School Astana (KIS Astana), which holds International Baccalaureate (IB) accreditation and serves over 800 schoolchildren and 120 preschoolers.
Additionally, Tokayev toured the QazSwimAcademy, a state-of-the-art sports center that emphasizes the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure. The academy boasts five swimming pools of various lengths, offers training in 25 disciplines, and features a professional gym. Overall, President Tokayev’s visit emphasized the country’s dedication to education, sports, and international cooperation in these key areas.
