President Tokayev Marks Gratitude Day with Congratulations to People of Kazakhstan
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his warm greetings to the nation on the occasion of the Day of Gratitude celebrated on March 1. In a statement reported by the Akorda press service, Tokayev emphasized the significance of this holiday in fostering unity among the people of Kazakhstan.
“This is an important holiday that contributes to strengthening the unity of our people. By expressing gratitude and respect to each other, we promote such fundamental values as friendship, harmony, and solidarity. All of this facilitates the consolidation of our nation,” said Tokayev.
The President highlighted the essential role of mercy, compassion, and a willingness to assist others in times of need, qualities that have been ingrained in the Kazakh people for generations.
“Today, we firmly follow the path of building a Just Kazakhstan, step by step implementing large-scale transformations. In this fateful period, it is extremely important for us to cherish national unity, putting the interests of the country above all,” he stated.
Tokayev expressed his confidence in the progressive nature of the nation, affirming that all the ambitious goals set by Kazakhstan will be achieved with the dedicated efforts of its citizens.
The Day of Gratitude, celebrated since 2016, marks the establishment of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan on March 1, 1995. This holiday symbolizes mutual assistance and unity in a multiethnic state, paying tribute to the diverse groups who found refuge in Kazakhstan during challenging times in history.
During the Soviet era, nearly one-third of the approximately three million individuals who were forcibly displaced were resettled in Kazakhstan, including Chechens and Ingush, Germans, Poles, Koreans, Meskhetian Turks, and others. These groups found solace and a new home in Kazakhstan, embodying the spirit of unity and resilience that continues to be celebrated on the Day of Gratitude.
