President’s Cup Tennis Tournament to be Held in Kazakh Capital This Month
The President’s Cup tennis tournament is set to take place on the summer hard courts of the National Tennis Center Beeline arena in Astana from July 14 to 28. This significant event will gather top players from the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF World Tennis Tour series.
According to the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, talented athletes such as Grigory Lomakin, Amir Omarkhanov, Aruzhan Sagandykova, Sonya Zhienbayeva, Assylzhan Arystanbekova, and Sandugash Kenzhibayeva will be representing Kazakhstan at the tournament.
The President’s Cup has been a staple in Kazakhstan’s tennis scene since 1991, growing in prestige and international recognition over the years. The competition is highly regarded among both male and female professionals, with the tournament officially gaining international status in 2007.
Throughout the years, the President’s Cup has seen illustrious champions such as Kazakhs Mikhail Kukushkin and Andrey Golubev, Ukrainian Ilya Marchenko, Austrian Sebastian Ofner, and Croatian Ivan Dodig. Notable doubles champions include Chinese player Zhang Shuai, who has clinched two Grand Slam titles.
