Presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Discuss AI Collaboration at Almaty Exhibition
Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan recently came together at the AlmatyFair.ai exhibition to review the Central Asian Innovation Hubs. This alliance aims to promote startups and global innovation by leveraging the capabilities of the two countries’ largest technology parks.
During the exhibition, the presidents explored various cutting-edge solutions in areas such as GovTech, FinTech, BigTech, and Smart City technologies. They also had the opportunity to witness the achievements of IT companies, industrial innovations, and educational projects.
Tokayev presented Mirziyoyev with the concept for the Alem.ai International Center for Artificial Intelligence, which is designed to train AI specialists, support startups, and advance scientific research. Additionally, the leaders discussed initiatives like Kazakhstan’s National AI Platform and the AI-Sana educational program, which are aimed at driving economic growth and entrepreneurship through AI technologies.
In a landmark agreement, the Kazakh government signed a deal with Singapore’s GK Hyperscale Ltd to build and operate two hyperscale data centers. With a total IT capacity of 200 MW, these data centers are expected to attract significant investments and create high-skilled job opportunities in the region. The project is also anticipated to boost Kazakhstan’s presence in the global tech landscape and attract major international players like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon.
The exhibition also featured the AI Startup Showdown, where teams pitched their AI solutions for a chance to win a $10,000 prize fund and participate in the Hero Training Program acceleration initiative in Silicon Valley. Overall, the collaboration between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the field of technology and innovation holds promising opportunities for both countries and the wider Central Asian region.
