
President’s Visit to Turkistan Region: Meeting with Civil Society.

Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev recently made a visit to the Turkistan Region where he toured various educational, cultural, and sports facilities on Sept. 27. This working trip commenced with a visit to the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum, a significant historical site in the region.
During his visit, President Tokayev paid his respects to Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, a revered poet, thinker, and spiritual teacher, along with other renowned historical figures buried at the mausoleum. He was briefed on the ongoing research activities at the mausoleum, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site.
The President also took the opportunity to learn about the educational programs and research initiatives undertaken by students at the Bilim-Innovation boarding school. Notably, the Turkistan Region is currently in the process of constructing 29 schools to accommodate 14,000 students as part of the national Comfortable School project. Additionally, 20 educational facilities are being funded through seized assets from individuals convicted of corruption, with 13 set to be completed by the end of the year.
President Tokayev also visited the newly constructed Ice Palace, equipped with state-of-the-art technology for year-round sports activities such as short track, figure skating, and hockey. The facility boasts equipment from various countries including Italy, Canada, Germany, and Finland, allowing for multiple sports to be practiced simultaneously.
Furthermore, the President met with the intelligentsia and members of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan at the House of Friendship in Turkistan. Expressing gratitude for the unity and hard work of the people in the region, President Tokayev emphasized the importance of supporting the younger generation and striving for national development amidst external risks.
“We are a united, tolerant, patient, and hardworking people. We will continue to build our harmonious society,” stated President Tokayev during his visit to the Turkistan Region. The ongoing efforts to enhance education, culture, and sports facilities in the region reflect the government’s commitment to fostering growth and prosperity for all residents.
