
Prevention of Over 1 Billion Harmful Accesses Last Month

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu recently praised the efforts of the intervention center (USOM) in the National Cyber Events, which operates within the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK). In order to combat cyber threats, Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the crucial role played by USOM in addressing cyber events, national security, and coordination.
Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that USOM is actively working to prevent both domestic and international cyber threats through activities such as alarms, warnings, and announcements, as well as cyber capacity building, technological measures, threat intelligence, and critical infrastructure services in Turkey.
Under the coordination of USOM, Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that approximately 2,324 teams and 8,009 expert staff are working tirelessly to protect Turkey’s cyber field 24/7. They conduct instant scans on around 17 million IP addresses and have detected a total of 78,558 cyber security vulnerabilities, which were promptly communicated to the relevant institutions.
Additionally, Minister Uraloğlu revealed that USOM has identified and prevented access to a total of 437,027 malicious software and cyber attacks since 2013, blocking 1,827 access requests in the process.
Furthermore, Minister Uraloğlu stressed the importance of domestic and national software in combating cyber events. He mentioned projects such as “hunter,” “Azad,” and “hurricane,” developed with internal resources, which serve as examples of national cyber security initiatives.
In a significant development, Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the success of USOM in utilizing artificial intelligence technology to block access to the 991 area responsible for attacks on citizens, thwarting 5,869 phishing attempts. Moreover, USOM conducted vulnerability scans on 838,112 critical websites within 7 hours in Turkey.
