Primary School Students from Güzelyurt Visit Parliament

75 students from Güzelyurt Freedom Primary School had the opportunity to visit the General Assembly of the Republic Assembly, accompanied by 10 teachers. The students were given information in the Cengiz Ratip Library and were then taken to the General Assembly Hall where the functioning of the Assembly was explained to them by the Director of Legislative Decisions and Minutes of the Assembly, Pembe İnanç Unan Ersöz.

During the visit, the students recited the oath in the General Assembly hall, sang the poem “I Have Two Flags” and the Mujahideen March. Additionally, a student sang the Famagusta Harbor Folk Song. The President of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, addressed the students and congratulated the school principal, teachers, and students for the program prepared.

In his speech, Töre emphasized the importance of knowing the history and tradition of the Turkish Cypriot people, as it allows for better decision-making and prevents the repetition of past mistakes. He stated that the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) is the highest value for them and celebrated the Republic Day in both the TRNC and Turkey. Töre also presented a parliamentary medal to the athletics and football teams of the school, which came first in the TRNC.

Töre ended his speech by emphasizing that the sovereignty belongs to the nation unconditionally and they will never give up on it. He wished the students success in their school life, and expressed his pride to see them in the General Assembly hall.
