
Prime Minister Üstel: Collaboration Over Memorization for Success – BRTK

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel recently attended the opening of the 60th Ordinary General Assembly of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce. In his statement at the General Assembly, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to overcome various economic challenges and ensure the survival of both the people and the business community. While he couldn’t attend the entire assembly due to scheduling conflicts, his statement was released by the Prime Ministry Press Office.
The Prime Minister expressed the government’s commitment to take necessary steps and initiatives in every sector through dialogue with all segments of society. He emphasized the government’s rationality and avoidance of unrealistic discourse that goes against the country’s resources. However, he assured that if there are viable actions beneficial to the country, the government will not hesitate to implement them within the framework of the law.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the constructive cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, which resulted in significant contributions to the business world. He mentioned the bonus support provided to private sector employees and expressed the government’s intention to continue such initiatives. He also emphasized the government’s implementation of legal and structural reforms that had not been tackled for years, while acknowledging the need for further reforms and new projects in the economy.
The Prime Minister revealed the government’s plan to prepare a 5-year development plan, which had not been done for 26 years. He stressed the importance of planned and consistent growth that can only be achieved with stable governments. He urged the participation of the business world in preparing the development plan, highlighting their crucial role in shaping the country’s economic future. He called for new reforms, employment projects, technological transformations, and a sustainable growth approach to be incorporated into the plan.
The Prime Minister mentioned various sectors that need attention, including tourism, transportation, agriculture, construction, and real estate. He emphasized the need for effective utilization of resources allocated to tourism, adequate preparation for the opening of a new airport, increased agricultural productivity, and integration between the construction and real estate sectors with tourism and higher education.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of implementing an e-government system to improve administrative efficiency and enhance the quality of education. He highlighted the government’s efforts in developing schools, universities, health infrastructure, and transportation networks.
The Prime Minister concluded by expressing his determination to fulfill the promises made to the people and accomplish even more in the future. He encouraged unity and cooperation among the business community and assured that Turkish Cypriots have the resilience and knowledge to navigate through difficult times. He urged a focus on the present and future, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to thrive and exist as long as the island continues to exist.
In this new era, the Prime Minister believes that Turkish Cypriots can achieve what they were once deemed unable to accomplish. As the government continues to prioritize the interests of the country and its people, he calls for a collective effort to embrace the opportunities ahead and build a prosperous future for all.
