Progressing Towards Gaza: Continuing Work for Visit

The Central Committee of the Fatah Movement met in Ramallah under the leadership of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. During the meeting, Abbas briefed the committee members about his recent visits to Russia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia in order to gain international and Arab support to halt Israel’s aggression in Gaza and the West Bank.
Efforts are being made for a visit to Gaza in order to end the conflict and ensure that the Palestinian state can fully carry out its responsibilities in Gaza, which is an essential part of the Palestinian territories along with the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The Fatah Movement called on world leaders and individuals to support the visit to Gaza as the best option to prevent the ongoing violence against civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly, with the backing of the United States. They also urged the international community to intervene urgently to pressure Israel to halt its policy of raids, bloodshed, and collective punishment in West Bank cities and towns.
The Committee also emphasized the need for international legal bodies to fulfill their obligations towards Palestinian prisoners and hostages who are facing torture and mistreatment in Israeli prisons.
President Abbas reiterated his commitment to visit Gaza during an address at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on August 15, declaring that there were no other solutions available. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safe passage of all members of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza and called on the UN Security Council to facilitate this process.
Overall, the Fatah Movement’s meeting highlighted the urgent need for international intervention to address the escalating situation in Gaza and the West Bank, and to advocate for the rights and safety of the Palestinian people.
