Proposal to Eliminate Age Restriction for Rental Cars

New Law Proposal Removes Age Limit for Rental Vehicles
A new law proposal entitled “Transportation of Passengers and Goods with Motor Vehicles (Audit) (Amendment) Law Proposal” has been prepared, aiming to eliminate the age limit for rental vehicles.
The law proposal, presented by UBP Iskele Deputy Yasemi Öztürk, highlights that despite being discussed in the committee, the age limit for rental motor vehicles was not removed in the unanimously approved and recently enforced law.
The proposal seeks to remove the age limit of 10 years stated in clause C of paragraph 7 of Article 18 of the main law. If passed, this would allow vehicles that are over 10 years old and/or motor vehicles with no year limit to be registered as “Z” rental vehicles.
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to share their opinions and proposals on the law proposal by submitting them in writing to the Presidency of the Assembly within a twenty-day period.
This potential amendment aims to provide more flexibility in the rental vehicle market, enabling owners of older vehicles to participate in the industry. It remains to be seen how this proposal will be received and whether it will ultimately become law.
