Protecting Fish Stalls in Çanakkale with Air Barriers

The fishing ban in Turkey was lifted on September 1, and fishermen from Çanakkale were eager to head out to sea after months of preparation. However, they faced challenges due to adverse weather conditions last night, impacting their ability to catch fish.

Ramazan Hasan Uysal, the Chairman of the Çanakkale Region Fisheries Cooperative Union Board, explained that the weather had a negative impact on the fishing activities on the first day. He mentioned that while there were fish in the sea, the fishermen were cautious and not very active due to the bad weather. Despite this, Uysal expressed optimism for the upcoming season, predicting abundance of bonito, anchovy, and horse mackerel in the Black Sea and Marmara.

Uysal also mentioned that fish prices would vary based on supply and demand, but he believed that the strong fishing fleet in Çanakkale would meet the demand, allowing citizens to enjoy fish at affordable prices this season.

Fisherman Ali Dinç highlighted the challenges faced by fishermen on the first day of the season, such as difficulties in locating fish and adverse weather conditions in the Aegean Sea. However, he remained hopeful that bonito would be abundant this year, followed by anchovy, bluefish, and bluefish.

Another fisherman, Volkan Kaşık, noted that while the fishery had limited success on the first day, abundance was expected to increase as the weather improved. He reassured citizens that they would soon be able to find a variety of affordable fish options in the market.

Overall, despite the initial setbacks due to adverse weather, fishermen and officials remain optimistic about the upcoming fishing season in Çanakkale, with hopes for a plentiful supply of fish for the people to enjoy.
